No two off-grid systems are alike. When Tom Whittemore subdivided his property and built off-grid homes for himself, his daughter, his son, and his in-laws, HYRIVO designed customized, self-sufficient energy systems tailored to the unique needs of each household. However, from the outset, Whittemore noticed his own battery system consistently draining before sunrise, with no clear indication of what was driving the excessive energy consumption.
Challenge
With more than 20 years of experience designing off-grid systems and monitoring performance, HYRIVO technicians immediately reviewed historical load data to analyze energy consumption patterns at the Whittemore residence. The analysis revealed that a water pump was operating far more frequently than expected—rapidly depleting the battery system and nearly draining a 10,000-gallon rainwater catchment tank.
SOLUTION
RESULT
While most people think of a home as a place to live, engineers view it as an interconnected system of structural, electrical, and plumbing components that influence one another. HYRIVO’s analysis of Whittemore’s energy consumption uncovered a previously undetected water leak. Once repaired, the home was able to efficiently store both water and energy, restoring system balance and supporting a more sustainable, reliable lifestyle.
“Living off the grid does not mean I want to fix anything at my home that needs fixing. With HYRIVO, I knew that expert service is always a phone call away.”
